Third two weeks diet after weight loss surgery for Lebanon
Phase Three: soft and minced food
Restrict your intake to soft and minced textured food for 2 weeks: this diet is comprised of foods that are easy to digest which can be easily cut with a fork, without needing a knife. Food cannot pass through the opening of the new stomach unless it is chopped into very small pieces. Chew your food as much as possible and be attentive to when your body tells you that you are hungry or full.
Allowed Food:
- Food allowed during the previous phase
- Raw vegetables/ salads
- Grilled chicken or meat (60 to 90 g)
- Fat: Limit your intake of fats to 3 teaspoons a day (1 tablespoon), preferably vegetable oils.
- Protein: 2-3 servings of meats and alternatives per day: 60g to 90 g of meat, poultry or fish (Remove the visible fat from the meat and the skin from poultry, and choose non-fat cooking methods: in the oven, on the grill, steamed…)
- Limit foods that are processed, high in fat and/or sugar and salt: pastries, chips, honey, maple syrup, candy bars, jams, deli foods… Foods with a high sugar concentration can increase the risks of bloating and diarrhea.
Not allowed Food:
- Fruit juices
- Regular and diet soft drinks
- Fizzy water
- Alcohol
- Pepper and spicy food to avoid heartburn
- Peas, corn, rice, bread, potatoes, pasta
Recommendations:
Your stomach can hold only half a cup of food. To reach your desired weight loss goal, to prevent enlargement of your stomach and to prevent abdominal pain and vomiting, follow these recommendations:
- Eat regularly, several small meals(ex: 3 small meals and 2 snacks)
- Eat slowly and chew thoroughly: take 20 to 30min for each meal
- Stop eating as soon as you feel full
- Do not lie down after eating to avoid reflux
- Try one food at a time, this way if a certain food is not well-tolerated you will know which food was the cause
- Drink water frequently to prevent dehydration and constipation: 6-8 cups of water per day. Do not drink while eating: take liquids 30 min before your meals and 60 min after your meals
- Exercise at least 30 minutes per day
